Washoe County showed the biggest gain in wages in 2024 of any county in Nevada — up 5.9%, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report released June 17.
That’s still $100 a week below the national average for wages.
The average weekly wage across the nation is $1,507.
Five of Nevada’s counties had average weekly wages above that and 12 below. Overall in Nevada, the average weekly wage is $1,350, about 10% less than the national figure.

Employment rate drops in Washoe County
The Bureau of Labor Statistics report comparing data from December 2023 to December 2024 also looked at “covered employment.” That’s jobs covered by unemployment insurance.
Nevada has about 108,000 establishments that have unemployment insurance for their workers, covering 1.5 million employees.
Clark County’s covered employment rate rose 0.3% in 2024 while Washoe County’s fell 0.7%.
