WHEN: TUESDAY, MARCH 14 at 1:00 PM PST
WHAT: SB96: Introduced by the Senate Committee on Revenue and Economic Development, this Bill would increase property taxes for residences and businesses. Currently, the formula for calculating partial abatement is done so that the annual cap on increases of property taxes on single family residences and residential real estate is 3%. This bill would change the 3% cap so that the annual cap on increases in property taxes cannot be less than 3% and more than 8%.

WHY OPPOSE THIS BILL: In short, this is an attempt to raise our property taxes during this challenging period of high inflation, high interest rates and a slow economy. As Nevadans cope with high food and gas costs, our State Government needs to be more fiscally responsible as it already has a $2 Billion budget surplus.
