With heavy hearts, we share the news of the tragic and unexpected passing of Barry Weddington Becker, one of the founding members of Keystone Corporation. Barry, 78, left us on Monday, October 30, 2023, leaving an indelible mark on the Las Vegas business community.
Barry’s Impact: Barry was a proud graduate of North Hollywood High School and served honorably in the US Marines from 1969-1971. In 1971, he became a Las Vegas resident, joining his father’s home-building and development business. Barry’s contributions extended beyond real estate; he co-founded Becker Gaming, launched Arizona Charlie’s Casino, and engaged in various philanthropic efforts.
Community Leader: For more than 50 years, Barry was actively involved in numerous organizations, demonstrating unparalleled leadership. He served as the past president of the Southern Nevada Homebuilders Association, a Life member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and Chairman of the Land Use Planning Committee for Project 2000. Barry’s influence reached statewide, where he served on the State Environmental Commission and played a pivotal role in advocating for the Nevada Revised Statute Owner/Developer Law.
Philanthropist: Barry’s impact stretched into the philanthropic realm. He served on multiple Boards of Directors, including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Clark Country, the Nevada Development Authority, and Opportunity Village. Barry’s generosity knew no bounds, leaving a lasting legacy in the hearts of those he touched.
Family Man: On a personal level, Barry was the nucleus of his family—a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His zest for life, from boating trips to Catalina to late nights around the fire in Laguna Beach, left a profound impact on his loved ones.
