According to the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s February 2021 economic report, Nevada’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8.3 percent in February 2021, higher than the 3.7 percent that Nevada had in February 2020.
Seasonally adjusted estimates account for regularly seen economic patterns; DETR notes the rest of the estimates have not been seasonally adjusted.
In the three Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA), the unemployment rates were 9.3 percent in the Las Vegas area, 4.9 percent in Reno, and the Carson area has an unemployment rate of 5.4 percent in February 2021.
In Nevada’s counties the lowest unemployment rate was in Eureka County at 2.7 percent, while Clark County had the highest rate at 9.3 percent.
Since December 2020 Humboldt County remained unchanged, five counties increased by 0.1 percentage points, and the remaining eleven counties decreased.
Compared to the national unadjusted rate of 6.6 percent, only Clark County had an unemployment rate higher than the national average.
